Morley collaborated with and led a multi international design-build team consisting of companies from Japan and across the United States to provide architecture, engineering and surveying services for a large industrial expansion for Takenaka’s Vincennes, Indiana location.
The project is a 152,000 square foot press addition, that includes underground material reclamation systems and multiple bridge cranes. Think: large, heavy equipment. The underground reclamation system collects remaining materials using conveyor belt systems and assembly lines. Exit requirements such as travel distances and safe areas were taken into consideration during the planning and execution process to accommodate the already vast facility.
Morley considered the ways the addition would affect the established egress and flow of the building, and using the large open area in our favor, designed the expansion to function as one building.
